Frankie's Italian Kitchen & Bar

Penne Classico (made with GF rotini pasta)
Frankies Italian Kitchen & Bar is a fairly new restaurant located in Chilliwack.  As I walked in, I immediately liked it.  The decor is upscale with warm lighting, complimented with a menu that has a ton of variety.  My boyfriend knew the restaurant manager, so right away we asked about GF options. The manager indicated that they recently had acquired GF pasta as many customers had been inquiring about it. They use Tinkyada pasta (which is one of our favorites). She mentioned that any pasta dish could be customized to be gluten free.  They have spaghetti and rotini as the GF pasta options.  The manager also mentioned that the artichoke dip seemed to be a favorite among many of the frequent gluten-free customers.

I had a difficult time choosing what to order as there were so many dishes that looked great. I went with the  Pesto Chicken Linguini and customized it with GF rotini pasta.  We let our waiter know that I had a GF allergy and he came back to let me know that the alfredo sauce had flour in it.  He asked if I would like tomato sauce instead. It was great to see that the restaurant was taking the extra precautions to make sure all aspects of the meal were gluten free. The pasta was very delicious and I really liked the flavours of the spices used. Another plus is that there is no additional fees for the GF pasta, we all know how rare that can be.  I have also tried the Penne Classico (with GF rotini) and it is so delicious.  You can see an example of what it looks like in the attached photo.  This is a great place for a romantic dinner, family meal or just hanging out with friends at the bar.  There is also a lounge where you can sip wine and have a casual meeting.  Check out there website for menu options http://www.frankiesitaliankitchen.ca/

Note:  Ensure you let the waiter know about your allergy before ordering so they can make sure all aspects of the meal are gluten-free.  I have also inquired with the restaurant manager about cross-contamination.  She informed me that all gluten-free items are cooked separately to ensure cross-contamination is minimized.
