| Spicy Chicken Pizza on a gluten-free crust |
Please note: Presto Cucina does not carry gluten-free pizza any longer at any of their locations. We have left this post up just in case they do decide to start carrying it again in the future.
When going out for lunch/dinner, my boyfriend will often ask me where I would like to eat. I live in Abbotsford and always find it difficult to make a decision since I have to make sure the restaurant serves gluten-free items. There are not many fast food options for celiacs (hopefully in the near future – fingers crossed) but most of the time, I just want a casual dining experience. Presto Cucina is an Italian restaurant which seemed just what I wanted.
I had heard that Presto Cucina serves gluten-free pizza. There is one in Abbotsford, which is where I live, so I was curious to try it out.
I would describe this place as a casual dine-in experience. While it is a formal restaurant setting, you order your food at the cashier and wait for your food to arrive (similar to Nando’s). They are self-described as “Italian Casual” and that is truly what they are.
They have locations in Vancouver, Kitsilano and White Rock. Prices are very affordable and the atmosphere is very chill.
I ordered the Spicy Chicken Pizza on a gluten free crust. Gluten-free crusts only come in the individual size. However, I thought it was enough for two people with medium appetites. The pizza was quite big, cut into six slices, I was full after three. I was not expecting it to taste that great after seeing how thin the crust was, but I was wrong and thought it was very delicious. I found the crust to be similar in texture to Rocky Mountain's gluten free flatbread. It was about $10.99 for the pizza. My boyfriend (not celiac) who is familiar with gluten-free crusts, found this one to taste great.
I spoke to the manager regarding cross contamination. He indicated that when they have an order for a gluten-free pizza, they will send the pizza tray that is to be used, to the dishwasher before preparing any of the pizza on it.
After reading your post I was looking forward to trying this but called today and they have stopped carrying the gluten free pizza...
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how heart broken I was to hear that myself when I called to order last week! I have been craving their garlic chicken pizza for 3 weeks now only to hear first that they are all out of their gluten free shells and then to hear that they likely will not be reordering them in as they haven't been selling as well.
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed and feel bad for anyone who has never tried their pizza, it was my absolute favorite. Maybe I will write Presto Cucina an email to help persuade them to carry it again!
